Research Group for Environmental Monitoring of Aquaculture – ENVAQ

The Research Group for Environmental Monitoring of Aquaculture (ENVAQ) has been actively contributing to the field of coastal marine environmental assessment for over ten years. The group brings together a multidisciplinary team of ten specialists whose expertise covers the full spectrum of environmental monitoring of coastal ecosystems and monitoring of aquaculture.
ENVAQ’s work spans a wide range of scientific domains, including sedimentological and geological investigations and a suite of chemical analyses encompassing physicochemical profiling and nutrient quantification. The team also conducts detailed high-resolution bathymetric surveys, seabed and habitat ecological status, and comprehensive biological assessments involving phytobenthos, macrozoobenthos, zooplankton, and chlorophyll-α dynamics.
In addition, ENVAQ is an accredited research unit by the Hellenic Accreditation System (ΕΣΥΔ) following following a quality management plan in accordance with ISO 17025/17 since 2021. Moreover, integrates advanced remote sensing techniques with rigorous data processing, statistical modelling, and environmental interpretation. This combination of field-based expertise and analytical capacity enables the group to deliver robust, high-quality evaluations of aquaculture environmental impacts and to support sustainable management of coastal marine ecosystems.
