For three days 80 exhibitors presented their excellent work, the results of research conducted at Academic Institutions, Research Institutes and innovative companies.
Of particular interest in this year’s event were the collaborative kiosks (research laboratories and start-ups) which presented the results of their cooperation for the implementation of innovative products and services.
The attendance of more than 5,500 visitors showed that society and the business world have embraced this effort, while at the same time the events were attended by distinguished scientists, important contributors to innovative entrepreneurship and the political world.
The Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information, Mr. Nikos Pappas , cut the ribbon of the opening of the exhibition and gave a speech at the opening event on Friday 27 April. On Sunday, April 29, as part of the three-day events of the Patras IQ Exhibition, an event was held on the development of 5th generation networks, where the keynote speaker was Secretary General of Telecommunications and Posts, Vassilis Maglaras . The events of the Ministry of Economy and Development , which took place on Saturday, April 28, with a speech by the Secretary General of Industry, Mr. Efstratios Zafeiris , were also present during the events.
Particularly important was the visit to the Exhibition of the members and the President of the National Council for Research and Innovation (ESEK) on Friday morning where they were guided to the exhibition site and talked with the President and the members of the Organizing Committee Patras IQ but also with the exhibitors.
At the main event of the University of Patras on Saturday 28 April with the theme “From the idea and the laboratory to the innovative product” were presented both funding opportunities (Equifund, Uni. Fund, Big Pi, Metavallon, NBG Businnes Seeds etc.) and actions of academic institutions and bodies (Corallia, EPI.noo, Orange Grove, In4Capital etc.) as well as the needs of students to support their business steps. The event was coordinated by journalist Dimitris Mallas. Speeches were given by Mrs. Katerina Pramatari and Messrs. Vassilis Makios, Aristos Doxiadis, George Karantonis, Spyros Arsenis, Evangelos Siokas, Dimitrios Fotiadis, Vassilis Bourganos, Giannis Kannelopoulos, George Melissaropoulos, Nasos Koskinas and students of the University of Patras.
This year we were honored by the presence of Prof. Pavol Šajgalík, President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences , who delivered a speech on the same day as the Ambassador of Slovakia Iveta Hricova. Karina Sotnik -Director, Business Incubation and Accelerator Programs of the City Science Center of Philadelphia, USA , which was initiated by the EAP. Her talk was about innovation, startups and the American market.
On Sunday 29/4, two big pitching events were hosted, with competing student teams. The first event was organized by the Hult Prize GREECE, the largest global student competition since 2010, where this year ‘s final national competition took place at Patras IQ. The second competition completed a 2-month program, an initiative of the University of Patras and the organization POS4work which aims to develop the business culture of students and support those who wish to further develop their business idea. The most complete business plans were presented and awarded at Sunday’s event.
In addition to the Educational Institutions and Institutes of Western Greece, the exhibition was attended by Universities and TEI from all over the country, innovative companies / start-ups, start-ups and representatives of innovation agencies.
The responsibility of the organization was a committee of executives from all the bodies participating in the program contract, with the emotional help of 100 volunteer-students from the University of Patras and the TEI West. Of Greece.
